A meeting between cello and guitar will reveal the richness of music from the Baroque to Romanticism in a concert with Georgi Dimitrov- Jojo and Syon Nayman.

The first half leads into the elegant, dance-inspired world of Vivaldi, Schenk and Marais—music in which the voice of the cello and the delicate timbre of the guitar intertwine with natural ease.

After the interval, masterpieces by Franz Schubert will be heard, including the celebrated Arpeggione Sonata and songs transformed by the intimate sound world of this unusual chamber ensemble.

The programme brings together virtuosity, poetry and genuine closeness—from Baroque ornamentation to Romantic lyricism.

Syon Najman is a cellist born in Antwerp in 2002. He began playing at the age of six and later studied with Prof. Romain Garioud in Paris. He completed his bachelor’s degree at the Berlin University of the Arts with Prof. Jens Peter Maintz and, from autumn 2026, continues his studies with Prof. Julian Steckel in Munich.

A laureate of numerous national and international competitions, including Concertino Praha, the Karl Davidoff Competition, and the Popper Competition, Syon regularly appears as a soloist and chamber musician at festivals across Europe. He has collaborated with distinguished artists such as Elena Bashkirova, Boris Garlitsky, Alexander Zemtsov, and Kyril Zlotnikov.

His recent highlights include solo debuts at the Rudolfinum with the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, at the Berlin Philharmonie with Berlin Sinfonietta 92, and with the Sofia Philharmonic. Twice nominated for Bulgarian National Radio’s “Young Musician of the Year,” he is a scholarship holder of the Paul Hindemith Society and Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. He is also a member of Trio Infinito, the Varyon String Quartet, and the Académie Jaroussky for the 2026/2027 season.

Syon performs on an Italian cello by the Gagliano family, made in Naples around 1790, provided by the Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz Foundation.

Georgi “Jojo” Dimitrov is a Bulgarian classical guitarist whose work brings together historical repertoire, contemporary music, and interdisciplinary collaboration. His performances explore connections between different eras, traditions, and artistic languages.

A laureate of numerous international competitions, he has received the Musicians’ Company New Elizabethan Award, the European Bach Guitar Award, and First Prize at the Maurizio Biasini International Guitar Competition. He has performed at venues and festivals including Wigmore Hall, Bachfest Leipzig, Madrid’s National Music Auditorium, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Saffron Hall, St Bartholomew-the-Great, and Bulgaria Hall. His performances have also been broadcast by BBC Radio, Bulgarian National Radio, and Bulgarian National Television.

His discography includes a critically acclaimed Naxos album dedicated to J. S. Bach and Tales of Being, released as part of the Royal Academy of Music Bicentenary Series. Georgi graduated cum laude from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz under Prof. Paolo Pegoraro and later completed a Master of Arts with Distinction at the Royal Academy of Music under Prof. Michael Lewin. He has also studied lute and Baroque guitar with David Bergmüller and Elizabeth Kenny.
