HARPSICHORD PROGRAMME FOR YOUNG ARTISTS

In its first season, the Young Artists Academy will offer young musicians an exceptionally rare training opportunity – specialised individual tuition in harpsichord. This is the only authentic programme in Bulgaria dedicated to this historical instrument, emblematic of Baroque music.

The programme is taught by Nikolay Stoykov – a renowned flautist and a musician with extensive experience in early music, who trained in France. He specialised in harpsichord and Baroque interpretation with French harpsichordists Joël Pontet and Violaine Cochard. A recipient of numerous national and international awards, he maintains an active concert career as a soloist and chamber musician in Bulgaria and abroad. As part of the programme, students will also participate several times a year in masterclasses with specially invited international and Bulgarian teachers.

Each student may supplement these activities with a varying number of individual harpsichord lessons, depending on their needs. These lessons are scheduled outside the Saturday group sessions, at times convenient for both the student and the teacher.

As participants in the Academy, students will attend Saturday group sessions throughout the academic year, covering music theory, collaborative project activities, instrumental training, chamber music, and concerts. The programme is based on the most up-to-date teaching methods used by leading secondary schools and higher education institutions for music in Western Europe and the United States.

The programme is designed for students aged 12 to 19 who attend music schools, as well as young musicians seeking a high level of performance and future professional development on stage. The programme begins in October 2026 and ends in June 2027.

The individual packages include between 10 and 30 individual instrumental lessons in addition to the core programme of group sessions. The fees cover tuition for the entire academic year. They may be paid in full at the beginning of the programme or in three instalments during the academic year.
