An elegant evening chamber concert dedicated to the richness and expressiveness of the clarinet repertoire will be presented by clarinetist Dr. Rosen Idealov and pianist Dr. Bogdan Stanev. The programme traces different stylistic periods—from the classical clarity of Mozart through the poetic Romanticism of Schumann to the expressive language of the twentieth century in the works of Hindemith and Martinů.

The two performers are among Bulgaria’s leading musicians, with long-standing concert and teaching careers. They are well known to audiences for their stylistic precision, artistic depth, and dedication to chamber music performance.

Dr. Rosen Idealov is a distinguished Bulgarian clarinetist with an active international career. He graduated from the Dobri Hristov National School of Arts in Varna and the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in Sofia, where he studied with Prof. Sava Dimitrov and Prof. Konstantin Chilev. He later specialized in contemporary music.

Since 1999, he has taught at the Lyubomir Pipkov National Music School in Sofia, and since 2006 he has been an assistant professor at the National Academy of Music, where he earned his doctoral degree in 2021.

He is a laureate of numerous national and international competitions and the recipient of prestigious awards, including the Golden Five-Line Staff, Golden Lyre, and Crystal Lyre.

For more than 45 years, he has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe, the United States, and Asia. He has appeared at major international festivals and is among Bulgaria’s leading interpreters of contemporary music, with more than 250 works written especially for him. He has made numerous recordings for the Bulgarian National Radio and Bulgarian National Television and has released more than sixteen CDs.

Dr. Bogdan Stanev is a Bulgarian pianist and distinguished chamber musician, born in Ruse. He graduated from the Prof. Veselin Stoyanov Secondary Music School and the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in Sofia, where he studied piano with Prof. Julia and Konstantin Ganevi, Prof. Boyan Vodenitcharov, and Prof. Teodora Nestorova. He specialized in chamber music with Prof. Ventseslav Nikolov and piano accompaniment with Manya Lungarova.

He is a sought-after accompanist in masterclasses led by internationally renowned instrumentalists and pedagogues. He actively participates as a chamber musician and coordinator in international music academies, including the VIMA programmes of Varna International.

He has performed extensively in Bulgaria and abroad, including in France, Italy, Austria, Norway, and other countries, and is also the pianist of the Aeolina Quartet. He has appeared at prestigious festivals such as the Sofia Music Weeks, Varna Summer, and March Music Days.

He has recorded for the Bulgarian National Radio and Bulgarian National Television and has released several CDs. In 2001, he received the Crystal Lyre Award.

A long-standing piano accompanist at the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music, he teaches piano accompaniment and chamber music. He earned his doctoral degree in 2022 and has been an Associate Professor at the Academy since 2023.
