REGISTRATION

The Summer Chamber Music Laboratory of Sofia Art Institute is an intensive educational programme for young instrumentalists, designed to develop their skills in ensemble performance, active listening, musical communication, and teamwork.

The programme is aimed at students and young musicians who wish to take their first steps in chamber music or deepen their experience in ensemble performance. Throughout the Laboratory, participants will take part in a variety of practical and theoretical activities that will help them better understand the process of making music together.

IMPORTANT: All places for the 13-19 July session have been filled.

THE PROGRAMME

Chamber music is an art of communication. It teaches young musicians not only to play together, but also to listen to one another, to build trust and friendships through music. That is why we chose the motto “Music for Friends” – because the best ensembles are born where musical partnership becomes a true human friendship.

The main goal of the Summer Laboratory is the formation of sustainable chamber ensembles that will continue their collaboration in the future.

Each day includes:

Rhythmic games and exercises for developing ensemble awareness
Work in a large ensemble
Introduction to the lives and works of significant composers
Listening to and analysing musical works with scores
Practical conducting sessions 
Chamber rehearsals in small ensembles
Presentation of the prepared work to the other participants

Special attention is given to listening, communication between performers, and building musical partnership – qualities essential for every future professional musician.
