14 AND 15 NOVEMBER 2026
11:00 AM
HELIKON ART

The interactive concert “Wonders of Music” is an exciting musical adventure designed for young explorers aged 4 to 10.

“Wonders of Music” is an interactive concert that blends the beauty of classical music with live performance, musical games, fun challenges, and surprises. The performers are Malina Mancheva (violin), Linda Mancheva (cello), and Nikolay Stoykov (flute).

The program features works by composers from the classical era, presented in an accessible and engaging way for a young audience. A special place is also reserved for Bulgarian folk songs, arranged for the trio, which reveal the beauty of these native melodies through the sound of classical instruments.

Look forward to exciting musical discoveries, games, surprises, and plenty of smiles. “Wonders of Music” offers an encounter with the magic of live performance—an event where every child can discover their very first musical fairy tale.

Malina Mancheva was born in Sofia and began playing the violin at the age of just five. She graduated from the Lyubomir Pipkov National Music School, specializing in violin and chamber music, and subsequently completed her studies at the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Music Academy in Sofia.

In 1994, she was accepted into the prestigious Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, an experience that inspired her to pursue further musical education abroad.

After being accepted by several higher music institutions in Germany, she chose the Cologne University of Music (Hochschule für Musik Köln). There, she completed three specializations, earning diplomas in modern violin, baroque violin, and baroque chamber music. Her most significant mentors included Prof. Ingeborg Scheerer and Prof. Richard Gwilt.

Even during her studies, Malina Mancheva dedicated a substantial part of her artistic work to chamber music. She founded and led a piano trio, a string quartet, and an early music trio, with which she maintained an active concert schedule.

From 2004 to 2006, she was a member of the Duisburg Philharmonic. Her strong interest in chamber music and historically informed performance led her to pursue a career as a freelance artist. As both a baroque and contemporary violinist, she is a member of several established European ensembles, including Concerto con Anima, Capella Augustina, L’arte del mondo, Das Neue Orchester, Anima Eterna, Musica Sacra, and others.

With Trio Musaì (violin, clarinet/saxophone, and piano), she performs contemporary music and creates theatrical concert productions for young audiences. The project Trio Dilma focuses on Bulgarian folklore, original compositions, and educational programs. Together with actor Michael Witte and Trio Magalin, she participates in the musical-theatrical production “Sauschwanz.”

Linda Mancheva, personal archive

Cellist Linda Mancheva graduated from the L. Pipkov Music School in Sofia in 1996, studying cello under Marietta Ivanova and chamber music under Boyka Dimitrova. She subsequently completed her studies at the music conservatories in Cologne and Berlin. A significant part of her musical career has been dedicated to “historically informed performance practice.” She specialized in baroque cello at the Berlin University of the Arts, is a laureate of international baroque chamber music competitions in Germany and Italy, and was a scholarship recipient of the Yehudi Menuhin “Live Music Now” foundation in Berlin. She has performed at the Utrecht Early Music Festival, the Bach Biennale in Weimar, the Van Wassenaer Festival in Amsterdam, and the “Art of the Baroque” festival, among many others, with appearances in Montreal, Tokyo, Saint Petersburg, and Buenos Aires. She is a regular member of several ensembles, including Les Passions de l’Âme (Switzerland), Harmonie Universelle, Musica Sequenza, and L’arte del mondo (Germany), as well as the “Art of the Baroque” festival ensemble.

In 2020, in Sofia, Linda Mancheva founded the septet “Intersection Points” (Presechni Tochki), which brings together classical and jazz musicians to perform baroque and jazz music in unique arrangements.

In addition to her work as a performing musician, she is a dedicated educator, teaching cello, chamber music, and orchestral performance. She has worked as a guest lecturer at the Orchesterzentrum NRW in Dortmund, the Bern University of the Arts, and the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf.

For the past 15 years, she has been an instructor at the Musikschule Fanny Hensel in Berlin, where she works with children, adolescents, and adults.

Nikolay Stoykov graduated from the Lyubomir Pipkov National Music School in the flute class of Mila Pavlova and continued his studies at the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Music Academy under Prof. Lidia Oshavkova. Between 2010 and 2017, he pursued advanced studies in France—first at the Strasbourg Conservatory under Sandrine François, and subsequently in Paris under the world-renowned flutist Patrick Gallois. He is active as both a soloist and a chamber musician, having performed at festivals such as ppIANISSIMO, New Bulgarian Music, The Art of the Baroque, and the Mozart Days in Pravets. He has collaborated with distinguished artists, including Zefira Valova, Ina Kancheva, Christophe Coin, and Alon Sariel, and is a frequent guest at the French Institute in Sofia. He performs in Bulgaria and abroad, including appearances in Paris with violinist Augusta McKay Lodge. His repertoire spans music from the Renaissance to the present day. Currently, he serves as a flutist with the Sofia Wind Orchestra and maintains an active schedule of concert performances and teaching.
